Abstract The two predominant circuit types used by link state routing protocols are point-to-point and broadcast. It is important to identify the correct circuit type when forming adjacencies, flooding link state database packets, and representing the circuit topologically. This document describes a simple mechanism to treat the broadcast network as a point-to-point connection from the standpoint of IP routing.

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

90 ulticasting is the ability of a communication network to accept a single message from an application and to deliver copies of the message to multiple recipients at different locations. One of the challenges is to minimize the amount of network resources employed by multicasting. To illustrate this point, let us assume that a video server wants to transmit a movie to 1000 recipients (Fig. 1a)...
متن کاملScalable ad hoc routing in large, dense wireless networks using clustering and landmarks
In ad hoc, multihop wireless networks the routing protocol is key to efficient operation. The design of an ad hoc routing protocol is extremely challenging because of mobility, limited power, unpredictable radio channel behavior and constrained bandwidth. As the network grows large, two additional challenges must be faced: increasing node density, and large number of nodes. High density (i.e., ...

| The recent growth of the Internet and its increased het-erogeneity have increased the complexity of network protocol design and testing. In addition, the advent of multipoint (multicast-based) applications has introduced new challenges that are qualitatively diierent in nature than the traditional point-to-point protocols. Multipoint applications typically involve a group of participants simu...
متن کاملComparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....
